Overview

The Miyar Valley Trek, nestled in the remote western reaches of Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul and Spiti district, is a hidden Himalayan treasure stretching 74 km from Udaipur to the high-altitude Kang La pass. Starting from the last motorable village of Khanjer, the trail winds through vast alpine meadows, dramatic boulder-strewn paths, and alongside the glacial-fed Miyar River, which originates at Kang La Jot. This pristine valley, home to 13 traditional villages, is a haven for wildlife like snow leopards and black bears, and sustains local life through its fertile lands nourished by the river. Villagers cultivate unique crops such as iceberg lettuce, seed potatoes, apples, barley, cauliflower, sea buckthorn, and medicinal herbs like kuth and mannu, along with the aromatic asafoetida. With its blend of raw wilderness, cultural depth, and breathtaking scenery, Miyar Valley offers trekkers an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Himalayas.
