Overview

Set deep in Kullu’s wild Parvati Valley, the Sar Pass trek is a 5-6 day, roughly 50 km expedition from Kasol to a frozen alpine plateau at around 4,200 m. Beginning amid Kasol’s “Mini-Israel” cafés, you plunge into whispering pine and deodar forests, cross hidden hamlets like Grahan, and pitch camp beneath a vault of stars. As the trail climbs, lush meadows at Biskeri Thach give way to jagged ridges dusted with snow, and on summit day you crest Sar Pass-a broad, lake-like expanse that hardly thaws even in summer. The descent is as thrilling as the ascent: you’ll trade boots for a joyous snow slide down the glistening slope. Ideal for trekkers who crave high-altitude thrills without technical climbing, this moderately demanding route tests your stamina with daily 5-7 hour marches, unpredictable weather, and lingering snowfields. Plan for May-June bloom or the crisp clarity of September-October, when wildflowers carpet the lower valleys and clear skies frame the Himalaya’s eastern giants. Myth, history, forests, snow-and a rush of adventure-make Sar Pass an unforgettable Himalayan odyssey.

Itinerary

.Day 1: Kasol to Grahan Village                                                                                                                                    Kick off from Kasol and head uphill through pine-and-deodar forests along the Grahan Nallah. After a riverside picnic lunch, push on to the quaint hamlet of Grahan. As dusk falls, gather around the campfire for a hearty meal under a star-filled sky.

Day 2: Grahan to Min Thach
Following a hot alpine breakfast, tackle a 7 km climb through rhododendron groves and moss-covered rocks. When the trail bursts into emerald meadows, pitch camp at Min Thach and soak in sweeping views of the Nagaru ridge. A late-afternoon stroll rewards you with wildflowers and distant peaks.

Day 3: Min Thach to Nagaru
Rise with the valley mists for today’s 8 km ascent to the exposed ridge of Nagaru. The tree-line gives way to panoramic drops into Parvati Valley, and your windswept campsite offers a front-row seat to sunrise over Himalayan giants.

Day 4: Nagaru to Sar Pass to Biskeri Thach
Set off pre-dawn on the 14 km, 7–8 hr push over the snow-clad Sar Pass (4,220 m). Stand atop the frozen, lake-like plateau for 360° vistas, then descend via glittering snowfields and dense forest into the lush meadows of Biskeri Thach, arguably the trek’s most magical campsite.

Day 5: Biskeri Thach to Burseni + Drive to Kasol
Enjoy an easy 10 km, 4–5 hr downhill walk through walnut-lined trails to Burseni. From there, swap boots for a vehicle and glide back to Kasol by afternoon—just in time to celebrate with local cafés and riverside views.

Day 6: Buffer/Departure Day
Use this extra day for a sunrise jaunt to Chalal, last-minute shopping in Kasol, or simply unwinding by the Parvati River before your departure.
