A safari, they say, is a visit to the wilderness. But somewhere between the rustle of leaves and the hush of watchful silence, I realized - it is far more intimate than that. It is a return. A quiet, unexpected coming back home… to oneself. Because what we call “wild” outside is not separate from us; it is, in many ways, our most honest, unfiltered nature.
In the forests of Pench, I didn’t just observe life - I witnessed a deep, effortless harmony
Everything seemed to belong. The trees, the wind, the animals, the unseen rhythms… all woven into a seamless fabric of existence. Nothing forced, nothing out of place. Just an intricate dance of interconnectedness.
There, life unfolds moment to moment with startling clarity.
A deer grazing in stillness - alert, alive, but may become prey in the very next breath.
A bird, after a pause, suddenly trusts the air and takes flight.
There is no hesitation, no clinging. Only presence. Only now.
And then, there are the colours of emotion - so vivid, so undeniable in the wild.
There is dominance, in the quiet authority of a predator’s gaze.
There is fear, alive in the trembling stillness of prey.
There is alertness, curiosity, hunger, patience, playfulness, even a kind of tenderness in fleeting interactions.
Nothing is suppressed. Nothing is labelled as wrong.
Each emotion rises and makes its own colour.
And that is what makes the jungle complete.
It isn’t just survival - it’s a living spectrum, a gamut of emotions, each one like a colour on a vast, ever-changing canvas. Fierce and soft, urgent and peaceful , raw and graceful - all coexisting without conflict, without judgment.
And I couldn’t help but feel…
aren’t we the same?
Life within us, too, is made of these gorgeous colours.
Each emotion - no matter how intense or gentle - is unique, necessary, and deeply human. When we stop resisting them, when we allow them to move through us as naturally as the jungle does, something shifts. We become whole.
I came seeking joy, adventure, perhaps even a glimpse of the majestic wild.
But what I received was deeper - a gentle, undeniable reminder of the ephemeral nature of life. How everything arises so flawlessly.
Concepts I had encountered in spiritual studies began to feel alive here.
Interconnectedness was no longer an idea - it was visible in every movement.
Dependent origination revealed itself in how each moment gave rise to the next. Impermanence echoed in every fleeting sight.
The jungle does not resist life. It allows it.And perhaps, that is what it teaches us too.
Gratitude to MountainFit and Beyond Mountains for curating not just a safari, but an experience that felt both exhilarating and deeply enriching.
There’s a quiet knowing -
this was not just a journey into the wild… it was the beginning of a journey within.
