Manaslu Circuit Trek – A Journey into the Untamed Himalayas
Set in the remote west-central Himalayas of Nepal, the Manaslu Circuit Trek is an unforgettable adventure that blends dramatic mountain landscapes, rich cultural heritage and the thrill of high-altitude trekking. Circling Mount Manaslu, the world's eighth-highest mountain at 8,163 metres, this trail takes you through secluded valleys, ancient villages, dense forests, glacial rivers and spectacular alpine terrain.
Known as the “Mountain of the Spirit,” Mount Manaslu was first summited in 1956 by Toshio Imanishi and Gyalzen Norbu of a Japanese expedition. Opened to trekkers in 1991, the region remains an exceptional destination for those seeking a more remote and culturally immersive Himalayan experience.
The trail passes through the Manaslu Conservation Area and connects with the Annapurna Conservation Area towards the end of the circuit, revealing remarkable biodiversity and diverse landscapes. Along the way, encounter traditional mountain communities, Buddhist monasteries, prayer flags and villages shaped by Tibetan cultural influences.
The highlight of the trek is crossing the spectacular Larkya La Pass (5,106 m), where vast mountain panoramas reward the effort of the challenging ascent. From the lower river valleys to the high-altitude wilderness, every stage offers a new perspective on the Himalayas.
More than a mountain trek, the Manaslu Circuit is an experience of exploration, resilience and connection with nature—a journey into one of Nepal's most captivating and less-travelled Himalayan regions.
