Overview

Rohida Fort, also known as Vichitragad, is a historic hill Fort located near Bhor in the Pune District of Maharashtra. Situated at an elevation of around 3,820 feet, this Fort offers a moderately challenging trek, ideal for history enthusiasts and nature lovers. This Fort was originally built during the Yadava period and later strengthened by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, playing a strategic role during the Maratha reign. The Fort has witnessed several battles, including a notable one between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Adilshahi forces.

The trek to Rohida Fort is scenic, with wide plateaus, strong winds, and panoramic views of the surrounding Sahyadri mountain ranges. This Fort still preserves it's main entrance gates, bastions, water cisterns, and temples, reflecting it's past grandeur.

  • Itinerary
    • Report at Hotel Kalpana near Saras Baug, Pune at 5:30 am sharp.
    • Leave for Rohida Fort at 6:00 am.
    • Have breakfast on the way & reach base village. Short briefing by the Trek Leader.
    • Start the trek towards Rohida Fort at around 9:15 am.
    • Reach at the top of the Fort by 10:45 am.
    • Explore the Fort and start descending towards base village by 12:15 pm.
    • Reach at the base village at around 1:30 pm. Freshen up and have lunch.
    • Start return journey towards Pune at around 3:00 pm.
    • On the way, we will halt for Tea and snacks.
    • We will be back to Pune approximately by 6:00 pm. (depending on traffic conditions)
    • Trek ends.

    Things to carry
    • A Good Quality Rucksack (Pack everything in Plastic Bags to avoid getting wet)
    • Minimum 2 litres water bottle.
    • Trekking / Sports Shoes.
    • T-shirt, Track pant etc.
    • Rain jacket / Poncho
    • Extra set of clothes, Sweater and Sandals / Flipflops (can be kept in bus)
    • Torch with Extra Batteries
    • ID card.
    • Napkin/ Towel.
    • ORS or Electral (Optional)
    • Some snacks for the journey and trek.
    • Personal Medicines, if any.
