Overview

Sarasgad Fort is a hill fort located in the Raigad District of Maharashtra, near the quaint village of Pali. Standing at an elevation of approximately 1,600 feet, the fort offers a scenic yet moderately challenging trek, making it a favourite among history lovers and trekkers alike. The fort is also closely associated with the Ballaleshwar Temple, one of the eight Ashtavinayak Temples of Lord Ganesha, located at it's base.

Originally used as a watchtower to keep an eye on the trade routes, Sarasgad boasts historical significance dating back to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj era, who made improvements to the fort during his reign.

The route to the top involves climbing up rock-cut steps and traversing through ancient fortifications, water cisterns, and caves. The summit rewards trekkers with panoramic views of Sudhagad, Tailbaila, and the surrounding Sahyadri ranges.
