Overview

Sindola Fort, nestled in the Sahyadri mountain ranges of Maharashtra, is a lesser-known yet scenic hill fort located near Malshej Ghat in the Pune District. Situated at an elevation of approximately 3,600 feet, the fort offers trekkers a raw and adventurous experience through lush forests, rocky terrain, and panoramic views of surrounding valleys.

Though the fort is mostly in ruins today, it holds historical significance dating back to the Maratha era. It was strategically built to keep an eye on the ancient trade routes that passed through Malshej Ghat. The remnants of the fort walls, water cisterns, and carved steps hint at it's past military importance.

What makes Sindola Fort special is it's offbeat appeal, making it ideal for trekkers seeking solitude, monsoon beauty, and raw nature rather than crowds. The trail is a moderate-level trek, involving narrow pathways and some rock patches, especially towards the top.
