Overview

Tikona Fort is a triangular‑shaped hill fortress, situated at an altitude of approximately 1,066 metres (3,500 feet) above sea level, overlooking Pawna Lake. This Fort is renowned for it's triangular shape, which gives it the name "Tikona". (meaning "triangle" in Marathi)

Tikona Fort is historically significant Fort which features a Buddhist vihara and rock‑cut caves. This Fort was captured by the Nizam Shah in 1585, seized by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1657, briefly ceded to the Mughals in 1665, and finally taken by the British in 1818.

Once you reach at the top of the Fort, you will experience breathtaking views of Pawna Lake, plus surrounding Forts like Lohagad, Visapur, Tung, and others. Additionally, there is a temple of Trimbakeshwar Mahadev with an intact Shivalinga.
