Overview

Rajmachi is one of the most popular treks near Lonavala, known for its scenic surroundings and historic twin forts, Shrivardhan and Manoranjan. The trek offers a mix of easy walking trails, beautiful valley views, and a chance to explore the rich history of the region. The day includes travel by local train, a jeep ride to the base village, a guided trek to the forts, and a traditional lunch at Rajmachi Village, making it a well-rounded outdoor experience for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts.

The Shrivardhan Fort, located at a higher elevation, was an important watchtower that overlooked the ancient trade route connecting the Konkan coast with the Deccan Plateau. The nearby Manoranjan Fort served as a defensive fortification, protecting the region alongside Shrivardhan. Both forts came under the control of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the 17th century and played a significant role in safeguarding the strategic Bhor Ghat route. Today, these forts stand as reminders of Maharashtra's rich Maratha heritage while offering spectacular views of the Sahyadri range
