Vairatgad Fort (3340 feet above sea level) is a small but historically significant hill Fort located near Wai in Satara District of Maharashtra. It is believed to have been constructed during the reign of the Shilahar dynasty and later used as a watchtower during Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s era. The fort offers beautiful panoramic views of the Sahyadri ranges and surrounding countryside. Vairatgad Fort consists of ruins of old fortifications, bastions, and a small Hanuman temple at the top. The Fort offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Western Ghats including Wai, Satara, and even Mahabaleshwar on a clear day.

- This Fort was used as a strategic watchpoint to monitor the Wai region and surrounding valley.
- Report at Hotel Kalpana near Saras Baug, Pune at 5:30 am sharp.
- Leave for Vairatgad Fort at 6:00 am.
- Have breakfast on the way & reach base village. Short briefing by the Trek Leader.
- Start the trek towards Vairatgad Fort at around 9:30 am.
- Reach at the top of the Fort by 11:30 am.
- Explore the Fort and enjoy panoramic views of Dhom Dam, Wai town, and surrounding hills. Have lunch on the Fort.
- Start descending towards base village by 1:00 pm.
- Reach base village at around 2:30 pm.
- Start return journey towards Pune at around 3:00 pm.
- On the way, we will halt for Tea and snacks.
- We will be back to Pune approximately by 8:00 pm. (depending on traffic conditions)
- Trek ends.
