Overview

Pandavgad Fort is a lesser-known hill Fort located in the Satara District of Maharashtra, perched at an altitude of around 4,200 feet (1,280 meters) above sea level. This Fort lies on the Bamnoli–Wai–Mahabaleshwar route, close to the popular tourist town of Wai, making it an accessible yet peaceful destination for trekkers and history enthusiasts. Pandavgad Fort is believed to have been constructed during the Shilahara dynasty and was later under the control of the Marathas. It played a key role in guarding the routes leading to the Satara region. This Fort is largely spread over six acres and there is a temple which is in the memory of Vaman Pandit, the famous Sanskrit poet of the 15th Century.
